A recent Stats Canada survey found people in New Brunswick and Quebec are most likely to do a budget.
That's according to a national task force working on a strategy for financial literacy, in Moncton Wednesday to hear from several regional organizations.
Tamara Kelly, education coordinator for Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada, told the task force that a national strategy should teach people the basics of budgeting, but also needs to address regional issues.
"What does a regional landscape look like," said Kelly. "What are the pay levels in the urban areas? What's the cost of housing?" Key budgeting questions like these have regional answers, she said.
"Now how do we get that information to them and who should be delivering it," said Kelly.
The task force will recommend a national strategy on financial literacy by the end of the year.
