A 17-year-old girl has died after the pickup truck she was driving crashed into a hydro pole alongside a highway near Dugald, Man., on Tuesday afternoon.

RCMP and emergency crews have been at the scene of the single-vehicle collision, which police say took place at around 4 p.m. CT on Highway 206 south of the community.

The truck, which had two people inside, was heading north when it struck the hydro pole, RCMP said in a news release.

The teen, who was from the Rural Municipality of Springfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not release her name.

A female passenger was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Highway 206 was closed for several hours on Tuesday evening as police investigated the crash.
