PART 1 "She was from Czernowitz"; Vancouver writer Shula Klinger, raised on hazy family stories and old photos of people nobody could identify, searches for information about her grandmother whose early life in a cultured central Europe city was shattered by anti semitism and the rise of the Nazis.  "Return to Passau"; Gina Roitman returns to the German city she left as a baby, never expecting to receive a priceless gift from the Mayor.  

PART 2  Louis Danto, a world class tenor most Canadians outside the world of Jewish music have never heard of, knew many places in a long and turbulent life; Poland, Russia, Italy, America and Toronto where he was the cantor in a large synagogue for 25 years.  "Children of our age"; a mother and a daughter, still together after decades of war and upheaval, have bittersweet memories of many homes and many husbands.
