Semifinalists in the House!

For nine weeks we've seen communities across Canada inspire their residents to move more and eat better. It's been a points-earning extravaganza from coast to coast, with thousands logging into the Live Right Now app to complete challenges, join groups and post photos. You've inspired each other - and us - to make positive changes for our health, and now the time has come to announce our 13 semifinalists!
Moving forward, there is one more step to take before we name the Live Right Now Capital of Canada. Each of the semifinalists will be asked to organize a community event that showcases their spirit and dedication to living healthier, active lives. (Read more about the final challenge)
Before we announce the top thirteen communities, let's take a moment to reveal the winners of our iPad giveaway and Share the North challenge. Congratulations to Cambridge's Jamie McDougall, you've won an iPad 2! And congrats to Kory Baker-Henderson of Edmonton and Marino Casebeer of Yellowknife, you've won Canada Goose Expedition Parkas!
Now, let's give a big hand to our thirteen semifinalists! Representing every province and territory, communities have organized LRN themed events, been incredibly active within their groups and have completely embodied the spirit of Live Right Now. Congratulations to:
Corner Brook, N.L.
Pictou, N.S.
Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Edmundston, N.B.
Montreal, Que.
Cambridge, Ont.
Dauphin, Man.
Saskatoon, Sask.
Edmonton, Alta.
Kamloops, B.C.
Iqaluit, Nunavut
Yellowknife, N.W.T.
Dawson City, Yukon
CBC has heard some exciting plans for the final challenge. In the spirit of competition the events are top secret but we can say there are rumours of people taking to the streets in huge numbers, showcases of athleticism and endurance, food competitions and any number of fun ways to bring communities together in active and healthy ways!
We cannot WAIT to see the events that these communities plan for their final challenge!
Oh, and one more thing - we had 500 spirit points to give away, and our last batch of spirit points went to ... Edmundston, N.B.! The spirit of the residents their ability to rally the community has been a joy and inspiration to watch. This last push in points will be a boon to their final judging, where overall points total will factor into the ultimate decision.
Congratulations to our top thirteen communities. You're one step closer to receiving a $100,000 natural playground. We can't say it enough. You're amazing!
