Rose Misner

Name: Rose Misner

I'm part of: The Saint John YMCA-YWCA

#1 health goal: Reducing my BMI from 67 to about 28. I don't have any co-morbidities and I'd like to keep it that way.

Biggest challenge: Portions. Though I crave more fruit and veggies, I still don't get enough of them.

Biggest accomplishment: Since January 2011, my BMI has gone from 67 to 51 (80 lbs). Now I don't eat after supper and my addiction to potato chips disappeared the day I won a Y membership. I absolutely have to share another. I had set a goal to walk up the steep hill where I live in the spring (about 1K). On January 19th, because I missed my bus from the mall, I decided to try it. This added about 1/2K to my goal and I did it in half an hour!!!

I will continue to Live Right Now by: Controlling my portions, working out while challenging myself at the Y and celebrating milestones with new clothes instead of eating out.

Personal tip for Canadians: Out of shape bodies and minds can get in shape again. Yes it's work, but each victory is a reward - celebrate it!
