We love to give you our recommendations and this week we're listening to Feist

Fresh from her 2012 Polaris Music Prize win this week for her album Metals, Toronto-based rock singer/songwriter Leslie Feist has come a long way in just under a decade.

After winning a Juno award for her 2004 album Let It Die, following by 2007s The Reminder - which racked up four Grammy nominations, six Juno Award wins and a Shortlist Music Prize, she performed on Saturday Night Live before taking off on a world tour.

After taking a short break, she began to make music again with her collaborators Chilly Gonzales and Mocky (who also are in her band along with Dean Stone and Brian LeBarton) on what would be her fourth album - Metals. As mentioned, the album would go on to win the 2012 Polaris Music Prize, once again highlighting the sheer creativity she brings to her music through her emotive voice and relatable lyrics. CBC Live were at the Polaris Music Prize Gala this week and caught all the reaction to Feist's win. The very next day, Feist joined Jian Ghomeshi in studio Q to talk about her win...

If you haven't listened to songs from the Metals album on CBC Music yet (and we know you will), here she is performing Graveyard in studio Q...

She also mesmerised lucky fans at an extremely intimate concert with friends (including Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear) at CBC's Glenn Gould Studio in downtown Toronto in October of last year. Here's a bit of the performance...

CBC Live caught up with Feist last year at Canada Day in the Capital where she performed and spoke with us about patriotism, Canadian music and her mixed feelings about performing on Parliament Hill.

She has also sat down with George Strouboulopoulos on The Hour, just a few years ago. Check it out...
