VIDEO: Plan The Perfect Long-Weekend Party with Christine Tizzard

A long weekend is lot less relaxing when you've got a party to throw and no idea how to do it.

But Best Recipes Ever host Christine Tizzard is here to help, sharing her pro-tips for the perfect May Long gathering.

Thursday afternoon, Tizzard fielded questions from a crowd of long-weekend hosts and hostesses - CBC Arts reporter Jelena Adzic, included. (She was there to moderate the Q&A.)

If you're looking for barbecue pointers, theme-party suggestions and tips for where to shop the best produce, watch the video below.

(And if you want details on how to bake those picnic-ready scones she and Adzic were sampling on stage, head to Best Recipes Ever for her Canadian Living "tested 'til perfect" how-to.)

But if you take away only one pro-tip from this Long-Weekend Entertaining Q&A, Tizzard told CBC Live it should be this: shop fresh, and shop for the "best quality ingredients."

"Especially with it becoming summer time, we're starting to see lots of healthy food popping up in the market," Tizzard told CBC Live after leaving the stage. "Fresh food always tastes best."
