VIDEO: Deepa Mehta and Zaib Shaikh Talk Midnight's Children

Deepa Mehta's Midnight's Children - the highly anticipated adaptation of Salman Rushdie's book - finally hits theatres nationwide tomorrow (November 2) after having its gala première at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

Before the festival, TIFF artistic director Cameron Bailey told CBC News "[In] Midnight's Children, a book that was famously seen as impossible to adapt, [Mehta]'s found a way into the heart of the book." The novel that was named the Booker of Bookers deals with the Indian transition from a British colony to independence.

We got together with Deepa and two of her stars, Zaib Shaikh and Anita Majumder, to find out what it was like working with each other:

You can also watch Deepa Mehta go in-depth with George Stroumboulopoulos - featuring a very special bio introduced by Salman Rushdie himself - and listen to the legendary author of the book as he joined Mehta in sitting down with Jian Ghomeshi in Studio Q.
