VIDEO: Chris Hadfield Shares His Favourite Canada Day Memory

Our country turns 146 years young tomorrow, and CBC Live is in the nation's capital for the biggest birthday bash of the year!

We're spending the weekend on Parliament Hill, where the hubbub has already started. Crews are prepping. Musicians are sound checking. People are setting up their lawn chairs.

Canadians are hoping for a real out-of-this-world Canada Day experience, so who better to take part in the festivities than an honest to goodness space explorer?

Chris Hadfield is back on Earth (and is on the Hill) after his hugely successful mission as the first Canuck commander of the International Space Station. We snagged the world's most popular astronaut for a chat about the true north strong and free, and his favourite Canada Day moment involving the Queen!

Check out the interview:

Hadfield will perform his song "Is Somebody Singing?" not just once but TWICE tomorrow. For the noon show, he'll be accompanied by a youth choir. Then in the evening, he'll reunite with Barenaked Ladies' Ed Robertson for their first live on-Earth rendition, along with a virtual choir.

In case you missed it, here's the original video:

You can catch Hadfield and all of the Canada Day festivities across multiple CBC platforms on July 1. Visit CBC.ca/canadacelebrates for the full program guide.

Keep checking CBC Live for more backstage action and behind-the-scenes interviews with Canadian personalities.
