VIDEO: Eli Glasner on Getting TIFF-Ready

At yesterday's TIFF 2012 opening press conference, we got a little insight into the life of an arts reporter during the festival from CBC News reporter and film critic Eli Glasner. We've covered TIFF ourselves, but not like this. As part of the comprehensive in depth-coverage of the festival by CBC News, Eli is screening films, interviewing stars, attending events and talking TIFF on the news all day, every day, for 10 days straight. What keeps him going - besides the love of film? Check out the video to find out...

After TIFF announced the first list of over 60 titles screening at this year's festival, Eli shared his preliminary must-see picks with us:

1. The opening night film, Looper, directed by Rian Johnson and starring Joseph-Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis. "Rian Johnson did an amazing movie called Brick," Eli said. "Go rent it, it's awesome."

2. Ben Affleck's Argo, which the "double threat" directed and stars in.

3. Deepa Mehta's Midnight's Children, the Canadian film adaptation of Salman Rushdie's acclaimed book (also Eli's favourite Rushdie work).

The 2012 Toronto International Film Festival runs September 6th to 16th. Visit the official TIFF website for tickets and information.
