The Super Bowl in Celebrity Tweets

Over 100 million people will have tuned in to watch the Super Bowl - the self proclaimed Greatest Show on Earth™ - last night, and that's just in the USA. It's broadcast all over the world, and just like here in Canada there will have been many a viewing party.

According to LostRemote.com, the previous tweets-per-second records were obliterated by Madonna's half time performance. There were 10,245 tweets-per-second compared to 7,196 when Japan won the Women's World Cup.

That, again, was smashed come the final seconds of last night's big game - which saw a staggering 12,233 tweets-per-second. That's a lot of sore thumbs.

Everyone was tweeting about it, and we've rounded up some of the best tweets from the celebrity world. Have a look:

Alyssa Milano is known to be a big New York Giants fan, and she proved it last night posting this picture before the game:

Nick Cannon posted a link before the game to an article with loads of crazy Super Bowl parties... check them out:

We loved Strombo's description of the game beforehand:

Nicky Hilton's tweet goes down as one of the most retweeted of the night:

Kelly Osbourne may have had a little accident:

Then pretty much everyone on Twitter decided to share their views on said Madonna performance... from film stars to hockey players...

After the game finished, Kat Dennings wanted some drama:

Mr. Spike Lee - a notoriously big sports fan - with some of the Giants after their famous victory.
