We love Sarah Gadon here at CBC Live. We've seen her go from roles in Being Erica and Murdoch Mysteries to being on the brink of Hollywood fame. She's just starred alongside Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender in the Genie nominated A Dangerous Method (up for eleven awards) from David Cronenberg, and will soon be seen alongside Robert Pattinson in Cosmopolis.
Sandwiched nicely between A Dangerous Method and Cosmopolis - both Cronenberg directed - is The Moth Diaries. Based on the novel by Rachel Klein, it's helmed by American Psycho screenwriter and director Mary Harron, from Bracebridge, Ontario. It made its debut at last year's TIFF.
Gadon stars with English model and actress Lily Cole and Sarah Bulger. Set in a girls' boarding school, it tells the story of one of the girls' obsessions with her roommate... who may just be a vampire.
Scott Speedman also has a big role as the girls' English teacher - himself nominated for a Genie Award for his role in Edwin Boyd: Citizen Gangster. CBC TV will be broadcasting the Genies live on March 8th, and we'll be live streaming from the red carpet and backstage. You do not want to miss it.
Clap your eyes on the trailer below (yes, that is one of the kids from In America):
Previously, this is how we'd envisaged moth diaries:
9.16pm - Flew in to a lightbulb.
9.23pm - Argh! A moth ball!
9.26pm - Flew in to a lightbulb, again.
