He has one of the sharpest minds in Canada. He's Rick Mercer. On Monday night (September 17, doors at 7.30pm), you can see Rick live, for one night only, at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre. He and thousands of friends, like you, will be celebrating the release of his new book: A Nation Worth Ranting About. Not only that, the upcoming season of Rick Mercer Report will be the tenth. That's surely worthy of some conviviality.
Introduced by George Stroumboulopoulos, you can see Rick as he "pokes and prods at our institutions, reveals hypocrisy at the highest reaches of power and draws attention to our hardworking, unsung heroes. He will make you laugh at, question, think about, and, most of all, appreciate this glorious country we all share."
The book will be on sale at the event, and Rick will be sticking around after the show to sign copies. Net proceeds will go towards supporting Spread the Net, providing bednets against malaria in Africa.
"A good rant is cathartic. Ranting is what keeps me sane. They always come from a different place. Take the prime minister, for example. Sometimes when I rant about him, I am angry; other times, I am just severely annoyed - it's an important distinction."
- Rick Mercer, from his introduction to A Nation Worth Ranting About.
The tenth season of Rick Mercer Report debuts on CBC-TV Tuesday night at 8pm (8.30 NT). Don't miss it. And don't miss out on tickets for this one-off event.
