In July 2008, Paul McCartney stormed the Plains of Abraham, giving a concert to 200,000 people. This July 23, he'll be repeating history, returning to the same spot in Quebec for another show.
Before he does, the Beatle will be on CBC. Friday, July 19 he'll do an exclusive Canadian interview. It'll just be Macca and Radio-Canada personality Genevieve Borne, and you can watch the full TV special -- called Rendez-vous with Paul McCartney -- starting at 7 p.m. (7:30 NT). It'll be streaming in its entirety at CBC Music, too.
But doing an exclusive, career-spanning interview with the CBC is a bit like repeating history, too. McCartney's music legacy spans more than 50 years, and every now and then he's granted an audience to the national broadcaster's reporters.
One example? This 1984 interview with The Journal's Barbara Frum, where McCartney's coaxed into discussing the struggle to remain relevant, and how he reacted to John Lennon's opinion of his solo career.
But a lot can change in 30 years (even if everyone still asks you about the Beatles). To find out what's happening with McCartney now, tune in to Rendez-vous with Paul McCartney Friday, July 19 at 7 p.m. (7:30 NT) on CBC-TV.
