The spotlight continued to shine upon Canadian comedienne and 22 Minutes alum Mary Walsh after the opening night of her one-woman show Dancing with Rage in Toronto, Wednesday (March 6) when the ACTRA named her their 2013 Woman of the Year.
"I am over the moon!" she said after receiving the honour. "ACTRA has always been there for me and I am beyond proud to have been a member of our great union for over 40 years."
Shirley Douglas, Tantoo Cardinal and Sandi Ross (all previous recipients and members of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) were in the audience of Mary's show at the Panasonic Theatre to witness the announcement.
Most widely known for her portrayal as Marg Delahunty, Warrior Princess, Mary adds this Woman of the Year accolade to multiple awards she's received over her career (Order of Canada, ACTRA's Award of Excellence in Newfoundland, 18 Gemini Awards and a Governor General's Performing Arts Award).
Mary recently spoke with CBC's Alice Hopton about Dancing with Rage and how personal issues have shaped the show:
