When the Juno Awards are broadcast from Regina on Sunday, April 21 - a city CBC Music is hyping as "Canada's Next Music Capital" - k.d. lang will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

The prairie-raised singer will lend that velvety voice of hers to the telecast, too. But lang has already created one of Juno Week's most memorable moments, days before anyone claims an award.

Appearing on today's edition of Q, which was taped Thursday night at Regina's Conexus Arts Centre, lang reflected on her life and career with host Jian Ghomeshi, but she also contributed to a surprise musical performance, singing "Lost in the Light" with Juno nominee Bahamas.

The song's a personal favourite of lang's. She Tweeted as much last July:

CBC Music is in agreement. As they wrote this week, the tune "should be added to the Canadian Songwriting 101 curriculum." (Bahamas, otherwise known as guitarist Afie Juvanen, is also their pick for Songwriter of the Year honours at the Juno Awards.)

But if you want to improve on perfection, add harmonies by k.d. lang.
