LISTEN: The Music of Whitney Houston

Seen here after winning one of her six Grammy Awards, Whitney Houston died today at 48.

Whitney Houston, who was for decades the Queen of Pop, has died at age 48 in California. For more as the story develops, go to CBC News.

Not just a singer, Houston was also a talented actress. Perhaps her most famous and certainly her most popular song - I Will Always Love You - comes from the soundtrack to The Bodyguard. Originally written by Dolly Parton, the track was named the 68th Greatest Song of All Time by Billboard.

Despite a career spanning 35 years, Houston only released eight studio albums, two of them movie soundtracks. That didn't stop her though from garnering 22 American Music Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, an Emmy, six Grammys and many more awards. On the eve of the 54th Grammy Awards, it'll surely be a sombre evening in Los Angeles. Houston is believed to have been in town for the ceremony.

We've put together a playlist of Whitney Houston's best, including all of her Canadian number ones. Have a listen:
