Leonard Norman Cohen turns 77 tomorrow. Born in Montreal in 1934, he's released 11 studio albums and 6 live albums since 1967. And to celebrate this, Legacy Recordings are releasing The Complete Albums Collection which - as the name suggests - will include everything he's ever released. The collection comes out October 11.
Each album will include a "mini-LP replica CD jacket of the original release" and "a lavish 36 page booklet will include all discographical annotations and recording information."
Over the years, Cohen has received a plethora of awards, titles and honours for not only his music but also his poetry and novels, including the Governor General's Award in 1968 (which he refused), a Genie, a Juno, various Grammys (including the Lifetime Achievement Award last year), the Prince of Asturias Award and the Glenn Gould Prize. He's been inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and is an Officer of the Order of Canada. Let us put it this way, the man is a Canadian legend.
