There's a buzz around CBC Toronto and Over the Rainbow today as the Tony and Emmy award winner Kristin Chenoweth is heading in to mentor the nine remaining Dorothys vying for the lead role in Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Wizard of Oz musical. Kristin is no stranger to the Emerald City herself, having originated the role of Glinda in the musical Wicked.
Chenoweth, from Oklahoma, will bring a wealth of musical theatre knowledge to the girls. She's one of the most talented performers working in the field today, and you can throw in four studio albums and numerous television roles to boot. In 1999, she won her Tony Award for her performance as Sally Brown in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and you may remember her on your television screens as Annabeth Schott in The West Wing or as Olive Snook on Pushing Daisies. For the role of Olive, Chenoweth took home an Emmy in 2009.
This week though, she's coming to CBC and you can see her on this Sunday's Over the Rainbow. At 8pm, you'll be able to see just how much Kristin and her experience can help the girls.
