Lena Dunham, the mastermind behind HBO's hit show Girls, sat down with actor Alec Baldwin on his radio show this week to chat about her recent Golden Globe wins, the show's second season and how life shaped her creativity.
Within the 44-minute conversation on Here's the Thing, Alec asked Lena what shows comforted her on TV. Her response? Well, it just happened to be a CBC show. "My favourite show when I was little was Under the Umbrella Tree, which is a Canadian show about a woman who lives with three puppets and it was on every morning at 7 a.m.," she said. "There were three of them named Iggy, Gloria and Jay [Jacob]. Iggy was an iguana, Gloria was a groundhog and Jay was a blue jay and he lives out back in a bird house. They like talk to you about recycling or help their old, elderly neighbor who fell down the street. They're just like nice puppets."
