We continue with our fifth installment of our Favourite Characters Polls. This time around our subject is Quebec actor and comedian Patrick Huard, who's a nominee for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for the fan favourite film Starbuck. In it, Huard plays David Wosniak, a man who discovers that through sperm donations he's fathered 533 children. Now that's a film premise.
Huard is no stranger to the Genies, he and co-star Colm Feore were both nominated in 2007 for the all-time top grossing Canadian hit Bon Cop, Bad Cop. Though they were both beaten out by Quebecois actor Roy Dupuis, the film went on to take the Genie for Best Motion Picture.
In 2008 Huard directed the comedy hit Les 3 P'tits Cochons (The 3 Little Pigs) which was nominated for four Genies that year and won the Golden Reel Award.
More recently, he played disco-king Bastien Lavallee in Funkytown - based on the Montreal disco scene in the 70's. Like Bon Cop, Bad Cop before it, the film is performed both in English and French.
We're looking forward to seeing how things play out with Starbuck tomorrow night, but in the meantime, tell us... which Patrick Huard role was your favourite?
