Our trip down the yellow brick road has led us to this moment. Danielle Wade is your Dorothy! Canada finally found out who will play Dorothy in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Mirvish's Toronto production of The Wizard of Oz musical during Monday's (Nov. 5) series finale of Over the Rainbow.
After Sunday night's final performance show, Canada had the chance to vote for their pick to wear the coveted ruby slippers. The winner was revealed in Monday's episode, which also featured ALW himself, along with the OTR judges Arlene Phillips, Thom Allison and Louise Pitre.
The journey to Oz has certainly been a magical one and perhaps even a little educational. Take a look at when OTR host Daryn Jones quizzed some of the girls during auditions with Dorothy trivia:
Speaking of the auditions, we actually spoke to two of the finalists - A.J. and Danielle - among the hundreds of hopefuls back in June.
When asked about the atmosphere and anticipation in the holding room, Danielle said, "The camaraderie back there is awesome. Everyone's so supportive of everybody else, and they're so talented. Everyone sounds incredible."
And once A.J. made it through to the next round, she said, "When I got the ticket I was ecstatic! Before, I was like, "if I get a ticket, I'll be happy, but I'll be humble about it..." but I was bouncing off the walls, so excited."
The show has also had it's fair share of unbelievably talented celebrity mentors. We caught up with musical theatre goddesses Kristin Chenoweth and Marissa Jaret Winokur while they were in town to help the girls:
The Wizard of Oz production is set to begin this December at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre.
