CBC Opens New Radio Station in Kamloops

CBC officially has a new radio bureau in British Colombia - CBC Kamloops. Tuesday morning (Oct. 9) marked the opening with the debut of the new morning program Daybreak Kamloops with host Shelley Joyce featuring news, weather and everything listeners need to start their day.

Taking over from Daybreak South for people in the region of Thompson-Nicola, parts of the Fraser Valley, southern Cariboo, and Revelstoke, residents are encouraged to log onto for the latest information specific to them and the area.

To celebrate the opening of CBC Kamloops, the station hosted an open house featuring special guest appearance by host of CBC Radio One's Quirks & Quarks Bob McDonald, B.C. Almanac host Mark Forsythe and Heartland`s Graham Wardle, as well as musical performances from singer-songwriter Andrew Allen and Tiller's Folley.

The celebration continues throughout the week with special CBC events including a live broadcast by North by Northwest host Sheryl MacKay at the at the Art We Are Café on Oct. 13 and a live concert recording for CBC Radio One's Hot Air on Oct. 16 at The Parkside Lounge.

The CBC Kamloops team includes host Shelley Joyce, news anchor Doug Herbert, associate producer Josh Pagé, digital reporter/editor Jackie Sharkey and producer Rob Polson will bring listeners the content from their new home. You can follow them on Twitter:
