CBC Music Song Quest: The Best Game You Can Name?

Whether your go-to jam is Stompin' Tom's "The Hockey Song," or pretty much anything on this CBC Music playlist, music always has a place in Canada's favourite game.

But CBC's Hockey Night in Canada is looking to update its record collection, and to do that, they're calling on you to write them a song as part of CBC Music's Song Quest competition.

Whatever you write, it's got to be something big enough to fill an arena.

It's got to be better than Don Cherry's "Rock Em Sock Em Techno."

And it's got to inspire hockey fans everywhere -- in Vancouver, in Winnipeg, in Montreal, and even Lloydminster.

The Alberta/Saskatchewan border town is hosting Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada in the 2013-14 season, and the Song Quest winner will get a trip to the game. There, they'll debut their homespun jock jam and watch their champion tune play during the show's opening video montage.

Ready to enter?

Awesome. But feel free to take it slow, like a Zamboni driver on tranquilizers.

Entries don't open until Oct. 2, 2013. Read up on the competition (every day 'til then) at CBCMusic.ca/SongQuest.
