CBC Live and Twitter Trends 2012

Hashtags. That great tool on Twitter that allows users to be virtually be involved, especially when it comes to events. As we wrap up the year here at CBC Live, we thought we would take a look back at some of the biggest events we covered that you loved to talk about on Twitter. So here's our hashtag year in review:

Albeit bittersweet to remind you of last season, but we went behind the scenes at the NHL All-Star Weekend earlier this year. Take a look at the stars who also love the game like Strombo and Drake:

Next up - the Genie Awards. CBC Live rocked the red carpet with the help of our gorgeous and talented hosts Stacey McKenzie and Mr. D's Lauren Hammersley. We spoke to all of the big stars before the show and caught up with the winners back stage. Check out CBC Live's Jamey Ordolis, CBC Arts reporter Eli Glasner, Stacey, Lauren, and The Sheepdogs:

The Canada Day 2012 Celebration saw a star studded line up of performers in Ottawa including Feist, Simple Plan, Jully Black and more. We spoke to Feist following her performance about patriotism, Canadian music and her mixed feelings about performing on Parliament Hill:

The Calgary Stampede celebrated its 100th year in July and we were there to chat with the stars who came out in their Western best. One of the longest standing traditions of the stampede is the pancake breakfast. Check out Steven and Chris take us through flipping and serving along with Dragon Arlene Dickinson and Arctic Air's Adam Beach and Leah Gibson:

This year, one of the hottest tickets in town - and that town being Saskatoon - had to be the Canadian Country Music Awards. With country superstars like Dean Brody, Johnny Reid, Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert, it's no wonder Country Night In Canada became a trending topic. CBC News Arts Reporter Deana Sumanac and CBC Radio 2 Morning host Tom Power hosted the "John Deere Green Carpet" for CBC Live. Take a look at who they ran into:

Although hosted at CBC Toronto, Dragons' Den Day in Canada reached across the country, especially through tweeting. Jim, Kevin, Arlene, Bruce and David were all on hand to meet with fans and partake in a live student pitch session. Here are some of the moments from the exciting day:

The battle of the books always seems to get Canada talking, and reading for that matter. We were there when Canada Reads 2013 Turf Wars held the announcement of the top five books along with their champions including Jay Baruchel, Charlotte Gray, Carol Huynh, Ron MacLean and Trent McClellan. Check it out:

Last, but certainly not least, Sounds of the Season 2012 not only was a viral success, but the annual fundraiser brought in over $250,000 in donations and over 10,000 lbs of food for local food banks. The stars came out and fans filled the CBC Toronto building all for a good cause:

We can't wait to see what trends come up in the new year. Until then, keep tweeting! And you can follow us @CBCLive for all of the latest from your favourite stars.
