Canadian Screen Awards Nominees: Deepa Mehta and Salman Rushdie

One of this year's big screen power duos is the incredible pairing of Deepa Mehta and Salman Rushie. The Indo-Canadian filmmaker turned the British-Indian author's iconic 1981 novel, Midnight's Children, into a critically acclaimed feature, nominated in eight categories at the inaugural Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Motion Picture, Best Achievement in Direction for Deepa Mehta and Best Adapted Screenplay for Salman Rushdie.

Two of the film's stars - Zaib Shaikh and Anita Majumdar - spoke with us at the TIFF 2012 press conference about working with Deepa:

We profiled Deepa during TIFF 2012 when Midnight's Children premiered. Take a look:

A few months ago, Deepa took a seat in the red chair on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight and spoke to Strombo about working with Salman.

The pair also dropped in studio Q to talk Midnight's Children with Jian Ghomeshi.
