Canadian Screen Awards Nominee: Xavier Dolan on Laurence Anyways

Leading up to the inaugural Canadian Screen Awards, we're featuring some of the major nominees to look out for on the big night.

First up: Xavier Dolan. The Québécois actor/filmmaker's lastest film - Laurence Anyways - has received a whopping 10 Canadian Screen Awards nominations (second most behind Rebelle's 12 nominations) including Best Motion Picture, Achievement in Direction and Original Screenplay.

The film has already received much acclaim. Laurence Anyways won the Best Canadian Feature Film award at last year's Toronto International Film Festival and became Xavier's second hit at Cannes (his first being J'ai tué ma mère). As for Xavier himself; Playback - one of Canada's leading film and television industry publication - named him one of their '10 to Watch'. Not too shabby for a 23-year-old.

Xavier stopped by George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight to chat with Strombo about his career, getting a call from Brad Pitt and his recurring theme of "impossible love":
