Canadian Screen Awards Nominee: Sarah Polley on Stories We Tell

Filmmaker Sarah Polley has come a long way from her days as Sara Stanley on CBC's Road to Avonlea. Besides expanding her acting career onto the big screen in hits like Go, Dawn of the Dead, and Splice, Sarah has since shown the film industry just how talented she is behind the camera as an award-winning writer and director (Away from Her, Take This Waltz). Stories We Tell - Sarah's latest film and first documentary surrounding her personal life and a shocking family secret - won Best Canadian Film from the Toronto Film Critics Association and is nominated for Best Feature Length Documentary Award at the inaugural Canadian Screen Awards.

We profiled Sarah during the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival where Stories We Tell was featured.

Sarah sat down with Jian Ghomeshi in studio Q to talk about Stories We Tell and her decision to expose her family's secret via film.

CBC News arts reporter Deana Sumanac also spoke with Sarah about her film when it hit theatres across the country and asked the filmmaker what she believes her late mother would have thought about Stories We Tell.
