As an avid (Canadian) fan of the NFL, this Sunday (Feb. 3) just so happens to be my favourite Sunday of the year. Although many of us aren't making the trip down to New Orleans to see the Harbaugh brothers coaching match-up when the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers take the field, it doesn't mean we can't have celebrations of Super Bowl proportions right here at home. So for all of you hosting a Super Bowl party, here are some amazingly delicious recipes ideas from Best Recipes Ever and In the Kitchen that will surely please the fans and keep your invitees' mouths full (preventing them from cheering for the opposing team, of course).
First up: Best Recipes Ever has put together a Play-Off Party Feast fit for all fans. Two of the tasty bites selected by Christine Tizzard for Sunday are the Layered Mexican Dip and Double Trouble Bacon and Cheese Sliders. One word - Yum!
Not to be outdone, Stefano Faita from In the Kitchen has his own Ultimate Game-Day Grub. Some of the awesome suggestions include Baked Spinach & Artichoke Dip, Pigs in a Blanket, Beer-Battered Onion Rings and Garlic Chicken Wings, because what's a football game without wings?
Those recipes should keep everyone full from kick-off through the end of the fourth quarter. But while the food is taken care of, drinks are equally important.
Beer may be the drink of choice for many on Sunday, but how about some alternatives? Consider this: Super Bowl XLVII is being held in New Orleans; a city known for an old fashioned (hence Bourbon Street). So why not serve up a Bourbon Sidecar to your guests from Best Recipes Ever? And for good measure, here's a Best Caesar recipe for Monday morning.
