Nowadays Georgina Reilly may be most recognizable on television wearing her 1890s inspired costumes and handling gruesome deaths on Murdoch Mysteries, but the British-Canadian actress has donned many different types of outfits - and roles - for the camera in the past before she was a CBC star.
Born in Surrey, England, Georgina's career in performance began at the age of 10 when she scored her first role as a singer on the BBC kids show Number Time. From there, she worked heavily in musical theatre and continued to exercise her passion for the performing arts even when she moved with her family to Toronto, Canada, finishing her education at Havergal College.
Georgina's first stint with the CBC came in 2007 in the form of the TV movie The Dark Room. From there, she went onto star in both film and television, with her most notable credits including the horror film Pontypool (check out the trailer below), Overruled!, Majority Rules!, This Movie Is Broken, My Babysitter's a Vampire, Better People, and Eddie: The Sleepwalking Cannibal.
One of Georgina's personal milestones began when she appeared on CBC's Republic of Doyle. It was during her time shooting the episode that she met husband-to-be actor Mark O'Brien on set. You can watch the entire episode; Crashing on the Couch:
We also caught up with the CBC love birds on the red carpet of the 32nd Annual Genie Awards earlier this year:
Besides her reoccurring role as the feisty Dr. Emily Grace on Murdoch Mysteries, Georgina's star also continues to rise as she plays the cynical Sabrina Reynolds in The LA Complex. Take a look at a scene where Nick tries to prove his love to Sabrina after she gets upset over his new writing job:
And if one CBC show in 2012 was not enough for fans of Georgina, you could have also caught her (well, her voice) in the CBC Radio drama-satire series Trust, Inc. Don't worry, you can still listen to all of the episodes online. Take a listen to the first episode where Serena Jordan (Georgina) steps into her new role at Leger & Pratt:
What's next for Georgina? Well, 2013 is looking pretty amazing for the young starlet. As far as acting goes, she's starring alongside Donald Faison and Eva Amurri Martino in the comedy Stag. But perhaps what's even more exciting is that Georgina will kick off the new year with her wedding (which we're sure guests will include Murdochs and Doyles). On top of that, an all-new season of Murdoch Mysteries is set to begin. We can't wait.
