Heading up the host hunt is Krista Look, Executive Producer of Best Recipes Ever and In the Kitchen with Stefano Faita. We got in touch with Krista for the inside track on what she and her team are looking for:
Why did you decide to search for CBC's new food star this way?
Canadians have responded in such a big way to our two daily food shows, Best Recipes Ever and In the Kitchen with Stefano Faita, and we're developing an amazing food community in the daytime on CBC Television.
We wanted to include that vibrant, enthusiastic community in our search to find the next great food show host, so that we find someone who really represents them. We hope the word will spread quickly coast-to-coast about our CBC host search - we're so excited to see all the people, amateur or professional, who feel that they may be our next food star. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
What are the top three things you're looking at in the audition tapes?
First and foremost, we're looking for someone who enjoys all things food - a natural food-lover who lives, eats and breathes it. We want to find a passionate host who will inspire others with their extensive food knowledge and enthusiasm.
We want to be 'wowed' by their culinary skill and ease in the kitchen, their ability to chat and prepare food at the same time, making cooking look effortless and fun.
Also, our new host should love to teach others how to cook - a need to share what they know with others. They are someone whose ultimate goal is to help Canadians get delicious food on the table every day.
