At Rideau Hall in Ottawa this weekend, some of the most revered names on the Canadian entertainment stage were honoured by the Governor General David Johnston. Among them were Des McAnuff (who was joined onstage by the Who's Pete Townshend), Deepa Mehta, Rush and 22 Minutes' Mary Walsh.
Perhaps best known for her roles on the show - especially that of Marg Delahunty - Walsh has been entertaining the nation for over twenty five years. Check out her interview above with CBC News' Carole MacNeil where she looks back on her outrageous career. I say 'outrageous' purely thanks to that kiss with Stephen Harper.
It's been a tough year for Walsh after a severe respiratory illness saw her have to cancel her one-woman show Dancing with Rage. Having now put that behind her, we'd like to congratulate her (and her fellow honourees) on their medals.
