Ed, now in his 80's,
maintains a very hands-on work ethic in overseeing his $100
million a year enterprise, consisting of The Royal Alexandra
Theatre, Honest Ed's Discount Department Store, Mirvish Village,
The Princes of Wales Theatre and the historic Old Vic Theatre
in London, England. From the man who loves bargains,
we come to understand the importance of family - namely his
wife and artist Anne and son David, who himself is a major
force in the world of art and theatre production.
The Life & Times of Ed Mirvish
reveals a passionate man, whose love of ballroom dancing is
equaled only by his love of a good deal and the challenge
of success. We peer through a window into Ed's life
while at the same time glimpsing Canadian life from an economic,
political and cultural perspective from the 1920s until the
present.
Original Air Date - December 14, 1997
