The biography features extensive interviews
with Boyd in the months prior to his death in May of this
year. For the first time, his ex-wife, his daughter and his
adopted son speak out about Boyd and their painful years with
Canada’s most famous bank robber.

E.A. Boyd with a young family
The Boyd Gang twice escaped from the notorious Don Jail,
leading to the largest manhunt in Canadian history. The gang
enjoyed folk-hero status until a Toronto policeman was shot
down and killed in the street. Two gang members were hanged
for that murder and Boyd was sentenced to eight life terms
for his robberies and jail breaks.
After his release from Kingston Penitentiary 36 years ago,
Boyd – on lifetime parole – was given a new identity
and relocated near Victoria, British Columbia. He re-married
and devoted himself to caring for his invalid wife and her
handicapped friend. In his final years, Boyd lead a seemingly
exemplary life – in line with his popular image as the
"gentleman" bank robber.
