Human remains identified

After three and a half years, the family of a young man who was swept over Muskrat Falls is getting closure. Eighteen year old Ryan Russell and his two friends were canoeing on the river when they went over the powerful waterfall in May of 2010. Russell’s remains were found earlier this month by a trapper living in the area… police confirmed yesterday that the remains were of Ryan Russell. Lisa Dempster is a friend of the family’s. The CBC’s Amy Stoodley spoke with her last evening.

The Cost of Cancer!

The fight against cancer takes a lot of courage, and support. Unfortunately for some… it takes a lot of money. Doreen Butt of Labrador City has been undergoing Cancer treatment for five years. Both she and her husband say even with insurance and programs, it still can be a financial burden. Now they’re applauding the Canadian Cancer Society’s initiative that will help cancer patients in Labrador with travel costs for treatment. Reporter Mike Power sat down with Doreen and Dave Butt to find out more about the cost of Cancer.

Warm for Winter

RCMP Constable, Laura Joyce, was asked when she moved to Happy Valley Goose Bay last year, to come up with a project for the community. Little did she know, she’d create an event so successfull, that she’d be back at it a year later. It’s called Warm for Winter, it’s open to everybody and it happens this Sunday.
