A Polar Bear Tale to tell

polar bear.jpg A polar bear, not unlike this on,e made a 5 foot gash in the side of Gerald Mitchell’s tent early Saturday Morning Gerald Mitchell and Tom Smith have quite a tale to tell this morning… The Two Makkovik hunters had a close encounter with a polar bear early Saturday Morning.. while goose hunting on Ragged Islands. Gerald Mitchell spoke with Labrador Morning’s Tony Dawson .

Moravian Church 60th anniversary celebration

moravian church.jpgA Central Labrador landmark is celebrating a milestone. The Happy Valley-Goose Bay Moravian Church turned 60 over the weekend. It’s the oldest church in the Valley….. and the congregation is preparing for a year of events. Reverend Glenna Tasedan met Labrador Morning reporter Matt McCann at the church…. and took him on a tour.

99 years of the International Grenfell Association

i g a.jpgFrom mission trips to scholarships. The International Grenfell Association has changed A LOT in its 99-year history. At its height, the IGA had tens of thousands of members… all over the world. Well, the organization is a little smaller these days… But there’s still lots for the IGA to do. Chairperson Dr. Norman Pinder was in Happy Valley-Goose Bay recently, and our Bailey White caught up with him… and asked him about the organizations transition from a health-care provider, to a charity.
