DNR dumps caribou carcasses at Labrador Landfill
Heavy machinery buries caribou carcasses at a Labrador landfill (Matt McCann/CBC News). Last week, Department of Natural Resources employees loaded 20 to 30 caribou carcasses into a truck, and headed for the landfill in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. When they got there, DNR workers dumped the caribou, covered them with sand, and left. That doesn’t sit well with Prote Poker. Poker is the Grand Chief of the Innu Nation. He says the way the caribou were disposed of was disrespectful. He spoke to Labrador Morning’s Bailey White.
