Programs aimed at curbing violence against aboriginal women

The numbers are staggering. Aboriginal women in Canada are 3.5 times more likely to be victims of violence than non-aborignal women. And aboriginal women are 5 times more likely to be victims of homicide. But women in this province are trying to change all that. Charlene Johnson, the provincial minister responsible of the status of women was in Happy Valley-Goose Bay to announce funding for projects aimed at helping aboriginal women.
