Torngat Mountains - Protecting 5000 years of history
The rugged Torngat Mountains National Park is known for its timeless beauty and spectacular vistas.
But it’s not only a place to reflect on nature’s wonders….
It’s an area that’s infused with thousands of years of history. History the can trace some of our aboriginal roots which we celebrate today.
This summer, Parks Canada will be mapping out an archaeological site located on the North Arm in Saglek Bay.
The site is open to tourists, but it’s fragile so it needs to be protected.
Archaeologist Marianne Stopp is leading the Parks Canada project this summer.
Our John Gaudi spoke with her about the work she’ll be doing there.
