Governor General in Labrador

GG_stan.jpg Governor General David Johnston (Stanley Oliver in the background) On Thursday, a Canadian figurehead was a treated to a large Labrador day. Blue skies and sunshine greeted Governor General David Johnston when he landed at Five Wing Goose Bay. It was Johnston’s first visit to the Wing. So it was only fitting for military officials and an honour guard to receive him with pomp and circumstance. Stanley Oliver was also part of the welcoming party. He’s the Deputy Mayor of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Our John Gaudi caught up with Stanley afterwards to ask him about meeting the Queen’s representative.
then…Governor General David Johnston got on to the big part of his day…. a trip up to Hopedale. He met with the community there and visited the Nunatsiavut Legislative Assembly. Our Kate Adach followed him around yesterday and she outlined his day in Hopedale.
