Labrador West Forest Fire - Too close for comfort?

Photo Evac 3.jpg Chris Ensings photo of the Forest Fire raging just four and a half kilometres outside Wabush on Thursday night It’s going to be a busy, busy few days as Labradorians head out on the highway for the long weekend. The highway is still closed from Churchill to Wabush and Labrador City this morning due to that forest fire burning in Western Labrador. It’s now been five days since the fire started..
And no doubt there will be long line-ups as drivers wait to to see if they can get through the closed Trans Labrador Highway. To get an update on the situation this morning, Tony Dawson speaks with Labrador Morning’s Chris Ensing, he’s on location at the edge of Wabush and Eric Earle. He’s the provincial fire duty officer.

Happy Valley Goose Bay Council - Then there were three!

Leo Abbass.jpg Mayor Leo Abbass Arlene Michelin and Sean Cran resigned from Happy Valley Goose Bay town Council last night. Neither of them approve of how the new recreation director is being hired. They say the process is flawed. Their resignation comes just a month after Lydjia Chubbs quit council. That means only 3 remain…including the Mayor. To find out what this all means going forward, Mayor Leo Abbass is in th estudio with Tony Dawson.

Homeless in Happy Valley-Goose Bay

Not everybody knows it and it’s not always easy to see, but there’s a homelessness problem in Labrador. It’s a problem all over the province, in fact. So the government is holding focus groups to understand the needs of each commiunity all over Newfoundland and Labrador. About 20 people came out to a focus group in Happy Valley-Goose Bay yesterday. Including Emily Jararuse, Regula Schule and her daughter Susie
