Burton Winters - Painful Anniversary

Today is a painful anniversary in the Labrador coastal community of Makkovik. A year ago today, 14-year-old Burton Winters went missing on his snowmobile while traveling from his grandmother’s house to his own. A massive ground search launched immediately, but… It was two days before a military rescue helicopter joined the search. Since the Winters tragedy, his family and people throughout the province have been calling for a public inquiry and pushing for improvements to search and rescue. On the one-year anniversary, the CBC’s Lee Pitts looks at what’s changed and what hasn’t.
