Reaction to salt being used on NWR highway

Thumbnail image for talkback phone.png salt1.pngWe have some talkback for you now. Yesterday on the show we heard from Dominic Dickman, he’s a member of a growing facebook site determined to stop the use of salt on roads in the Upper Lake Melville area. He says a recent decision by the province to spray salt on the road between Happy Valley Goose Bay and North West River is unnacceptable. He argues that it will corrode vehicles over time, and that sand works better than salt. The minister of Tranportation, on the other hand, stands by the decision to use the de-icer on the slippery highway back on January 17th. Paul Davis says the amount of ice was a serious safety issue, and that he consulted with road crews and the mayor of Happy Valley Goose Bay before giving the go ahead to lay salt. That conversation with the minister got some of you talking. Have a listen
