New Law Jeopardizes Writer Income

We’ve all done it as students. Pull a book from the library shelf to photocopy pages for a school assignment. In the past, school boards have paid authors for all of that copying. But now a new bill passed in Ottawa is making authors worry they will no longer be compensated for their work. Our John Gaudi contacted two of the people concerned about the new law. Merilyn Simonds is the Chair of the Writers’ Union of Canada. And Robin McGrath is a writer in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Robin told John why she’s so worried about the new law.
