Employees Concerned Over Failed Payments From The Mushua Innu Band Council

Employees are worried after the Band Council in Natuashish has failed to pay them for two weeks. And some are wondering if the missed payday is a sign of something much worse at the band. Rose Poker works for the band as an addictions councilor. She spoke to CBC Reporter Vik Adhopia. Mark Nui is also worried about the financial situation of the Mushuau Innu Band. He’s a negotiator with the Innu Nation and a former Grand Chief. Nui spoke to Labrador Morning producer Chris Harbord.

Lots of Help to Find a Missing Cat

Milore.JPGIt only took a split second, but Renee Claude Robichaud’s pet cat ran into the woods. She had stopped for a rest on the Baie Comeau highway. That happened earlier this week, and Robichaud has been asking people for help to find her cat ever since. She says the cat is shy, and has a very distinct mark on it’s head. Renee told CBC’s Mike Power what happened.

HMCS Goose Bay in Port

HMCS Goose Bay.JPG It isn’t every day that a ship visits the town it was named after. The HMCS Goose Bay is a Royal Canadian Navy patrol ship. It only comes every couple years, so it’s got people pretty excited. Our Byron Hamel went down to the dock to speak with some of the visitors, and one of the officers serving on the ship.
