Dave Winters - Sexual assault /interference charges dismissed
Charges of sexual assault and sexual interference against Dave Winters of Happy Valley-Goose Bay have been dismissed. The court room in Happy Valley Goose Bay was packed yesterday morning as Dave Winters waited to hear the judge’s decision. Judge Lois Skanes came on the teleconference screen from St. John’s and dismissed charges of sexual assault and sexual interference against Winters. Winters was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl who passed out drunk on his couch. Judge Skanes said the evidence was spotty and the teenager’s story had some holes. When the Winters family heard the news they hugged and congratulated each other. The teenager’s family cried and yelled angry comments as the Winters family left the court room. Don Singleton is Dave Winter’s lawyer. CBC’s Colleen Connors spoke to him shortly after the verdict.
