Ice Conditions On, and Shipping To - Labrador's North Coast
Ice Analysis Labrador Coast June 4, 2012 - Environment Canada Every year people living on the North Coast of Labrador, anxiously wait for the ice to melt. Passenger ferries and freight services are very important to coastal communities…and they can only arrive when the waterways are clear. Fuel supplies, large grocery shipments, and even vehicles are loaded onto boats and sent to all points North We thought it was a good time to speak with an expert on ice conditions. Dan Frampton is the superindendant of ice operations with the Canadaian Coast Guard. He’s on the line with us, as well as Dean Coombs in Hopedale talking about shipping to Labrador’s north coast. So far they have not heard whichfreight boat is coming, or when the season will start.
