Can spawning fish be affected by fires?

But as our next guest says even fish can be affected. Perry Michelin has been fishing in Labrador for over 50 years, and has seen his share of forest fires. CBC’s Byron Hamel caught up with him by the beach in North West River.

NunatuKavut going ahead with an illegal fishery

Todd_Russell.jpg Todd Russell NunatuKavut says its members have the right to fish in the Upper Lake Melville area this summer. But that may bring the Aboriginal organization into conflict with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans — which in the past has only given permission to fish salmon, trout and char in southern Labrador. NunatuKavut is pushing ahead to distribute tags for fishing in the area. To explain why, NunatuKavut president Todd Russell is in studio with Tony Dawson

Recreation plans for Labrador West

It promises to be a fun filled summer for young people in Labrador West. There are plans for all kinds of fun event for children of all ages, and some for the adults too. In Labrador City , the fun starts this Sunday with Canada Day celebrations. Labrador Morning’s Mike Power dropped by the Labrador City Arena to speak with recreation department employees Diane Holloway and Brittany Barron.
