Auditor General - Questions about the Trans Labrador Highway

yvonne jones jan 2012.jpg Yvonne Jones The province’s Auditor General is questioning how the government is building and maintaining the Trans-Labrador Highway. Here are just some of the highlights of the report… Department of Transportation officials were not able to produce a formal plan to show how they intend to complete the highway. They also could not explain to auditors why a southern route was chosen to connect Happy Valley Goose Bay and Cartwright Junction…and not a cheaper northern route. And…unsettling for drivers of the road…the audit concluded that bridges along the highway aren’t being properly inspected.
