Will there be a workers camp in Happy Valley-Goose Bay?

Leo Abbass.jpg Leo Abbass A big fuss is brewing in Happy Valley-Goose Bay over a proposed workers camp in town. The site is on Kelland Drive, a main artery in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. It’s also close to a residential area, as well as a high school. Tonight, the town is holding a public meeting about changes to its development regulations. It will be considering whether or not a bylaw should be amended to allow worker camps in the commerical zone. Our John Gaudi spoke with Mayor Leo Abbass about the proposed camp, and Elizabeth Rice, a resident who lives close to where the workers camp is being proposed. She’s got some concerns about the idea of all those workers living close to her home.
